Children's Ministries
Reaching People, Changing Lives begins with children at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School. Children are offered the opportunity to hear God's Word all year.
Baptism
Jesus told his disciples to go into all the world and baptize all nations. We are all born into this world with a deep need for the blessings God offers us through baptism. Baptism is God's way of welcoming someone into his family. We at St. Matthew exist to connect you and your family to Christ. If your child hasn't been baptized, we would be happy to provide this service for you and your child free of charge.
Preschool and Elementary SchoolSt. Matthew offers a part time preschool (three and four year-olds) and full elementary school, from Kindergarten through 8th grade. For more information on our preschool and elementary school ministries, please visit our school and preschool site at school.stmatthewspokane.org.
Sunday School
St. Matthew offers a Sunday morning children’s ministry from the Sunday after Labor Day to the Sunday before Memorial Day. It meets at 9am before worship in the school. Currently we can only accommodate ages 5 and up. Please speak to Pastor West if you are interested in volunteering for this ministry.
ConfirmationThis class is designed to prepare children for their first communion. It takes two years and meets Sundays at 11:45am beginning September 16th. It will not meet in the summer.
Youth GroupWe will be trying a few different things to get a youth group going this year. We really need two or three families to take it over before it can fully meet the needs of the kids grades 6-12 at our church. If God so moves you, please consider volunteering.
Vacation Bible SchoolVacation Bible School is held in the summer for several nights in a row. 2018 VBS is past, but look for information about 2019 starting in May. .
Christmas for Kids / Easter for Kids
Christmas for Kids is a special half-day opportunity on a Saturday morning to share the Christmas story in a fun and interactive environment. Crafts, music, and snacks are interspersed with the story of Jesus birth. Attendance is free and open to the community.
Easter for Kids is a half-day gathering on a Saturday morning to learn the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Children love the crafts, snacks and, of course, the Easter Egg hunt. Attendance is free and open to the community. |
